Numerical Investigation of Vibration Suppression for the Combined Device of Non-Newtonian Fluids Coupled Elastic Baffle

Tuned liquid dampers (TLDs) have been broadly applied to suppress structural vibrations. In the present study, a novel vibration mitigation device consisting of non-Newtonian fluids coupled with an elastic baffle is proposed. The fluid-structure interaction studied numerically. To optimize system, different fluids, including Bingham fluid, Pseudoplastic and Dilatant fluid are used as damping suppression ability each studied. Moreover, energy dissipation mechanisms liquids obtained. results show that optimal in container without can be achieved by using fluid. this case, average amplitude decay rate 12.662% about 0.199% improvement ratio when compared water. baffle, however, both outperform water capacity. rates these 50.960% 43.794%, respectively. their ratios 0.035% 0.019% higher than water,
